This project encourages delegates to work with a local municipality to educate the public and locals on sustainable practices and clean up an area, for example a school or a beach. It includes either buying or building trash and recycling containers, working with local organisations and educating local groups.

The Recycling Project is both a creative teambuilding exercise and a way to express social responsibility by using the 3R’s of CSR; reduce, re-use and recycle. Teams construct waste separation bins and collect, separate and recycle waste at a local community like a school, hotel or orphanage.
The client can choose from a number of beneficiaries with the need to improve waste management and recycling. The tasks are completed in groups with the assistance of the people in the community. After a hard day’s work the group comes together to celebrate the achievement.
The focus of this activity is in bringing awareness to a local community and educating people on the importance of recycling, waste management, trash disposal and the need to reduce single use items and the volume of items we throw away.
For example, by putting up signs and notices on the importance of reducing the use of single use plastics in different languages in tourist areas or local communities, can play a big part in changing behavior.
Projects include the making of large scale rubbish containers and recycling bins to place in public areas, creating signage to educate on the needs of responsible recycling and arranging with local recycling cooperatives to collect items which are sorted into categories to be collected, e.g. glass, plastic, compost and metal.
This activity usually takes place at the beneficiary location which varies depending on the need of the moment and convenience and availability of the client and beneficiary.
Scoring and a winning team is not applicable as this is not a competitive activity, however this may be implemented upon the client’s wishes.
Insurance and instructor supervision are important safety factors with any event, and in the event of an emergency, transport and medical backup will be standing by.
The event briefing takes place at the activity location or the client’s hotel meeting room or lobby. In the briefing the group is separated into teams and introduced to the facilitators, then the lead facilitator gives an introduction of the event including instructions and objectives for the activity.
In the de-brief the lead facilitator goes through the event challenges and asks each team questions to assess their own performance before announcing and awarding the winning team if applicable.
There’s also time for providing further donations to the beneficiary and a group photo with the people of the beneficiary.
Briefing and de-brief usually take around 15 minutes each but can be extended upon request for more in-depth analysis of team performance.
The half day program takes up to 4 hours and the full day program up to 8 hours.
