Delegates build sustainable solar-powered remote control cars in teams, construct a raceway then race their cars in competition with each other. Delegates may donate their cars to a beneficiary or school of their choosing.
- To plan and organize a community event
- To consider ways to achieve corporate social responsibility
- To improve cooperation as a team
- To work on creativity, critical thinking and innovation
- To consider ways in CSR can be translated into a work environment
- To learn new skills with uses outside the workplace
- To explore a new culture
Delegates are provided with a sustainable green racing RC car kit, as well as materials to construct a temporary racetrack within the venue.
In the half day program, teams design, build and test their cars before going through a series of qualifying rounds and exciting races against the other teams in knockout challenges before a grand final.
In the full day program, teams also have the time to brand their cars using logos, stickers and paint, construct different tracks and modify their cars to work on different surfaces.
Additionally, the students from the beneficiary school can be invited to take part in the construction and racing of the cars. This provides students with a unique and fun learning experience and provides delegates with the opportunity to connect with and help educate local children on the importance of green energy and sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.
This activity is designed to introduce the concepts of renewable energy and some of the principles of solar power to the group, and when combined with the participation of local students interested in science and engineering, helps to get the next generation excited in the possibilities of renewable energy.
The location for the event is usually at the client’s hotel conference room and outdoor area.
Teams race each other in different rounds on different tracks with different surfaces and obstacles. The team with the most wins, wins the game and is awarded with prizes in a ceremony at the end.
Insurance and instructor supervision are important safety factors with any event, and in the event of an emergency, transport and medical backup will be standing by.
The event briefing takes place at the activity location or the client’s hotel meeting room or lobby. In the briefing the group is separated into teams and introduced to the facilitators, then the lead facilitator gives an introduction of the event including instructions and objectives for the activity.
In the de-brief the lead facilitator goes through the event challenges and asks each team questions to assess their own performance before announcing and awarding the winning team if applicable.
There’s also time for providing further donations to the beneficiary and a group photo with the people of the beneficiary.
Briefing and de-brief usually take around 15 minutes each but can be extended upon request for more in-depth analysis of team performance.
The half day program takes up to 4 hours and the full day program up to 8 hours.
