Navigating through the azure waters of the Andaman Sea or Gulf of Thailand, teams learn to work closely together in a high performance unit in one of the ultimate team sports.
Catching thee winds of the sea in a battle with natural forces and against other teams, they may compete in a series of sailing related tasks at sea, spend a day or night on an island for Survivor style challenges, or simply hone their sailing skills moving leisurely from island to island.
- To improve communication within the team
- To practice planning and organisation
- To consider leadership skills
- To focus on team synergy and individual roles
- To get to know each other and have a fun and enjoyable time
- To manage time and complete team challenges together.
Each team will be instructed by a professional how to sail and be assigned individual roles for them to work smoothly together as a team. Provided with maps, teams will then set the route and sail from island to island to discover the most amazing places. Points are scored for working together as a team, fulfilling each individual role, planning the route, ability to sail independently from an instructor and reaching destinations.
In the full day event, teams are firstly given a series of sailing tasks like learning sailing terms and techniques, raising the sail and navigating to the next location by means of a navigation app and location map.
Next, at one or more islands they will be challenged to compete in a number of team building games to test their team performance and skills.
These games take place on the beaches, in the sea and around the islands, and although safety is of paramount importance, they test physical and mental endurance and prowess.
Depending on the starting point of the trip, a range of locations are suitable around Thailand, selection is based on location, budget and the duration of the event.
Ideal locations for the sailing destinations program are Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui all with beautiful sailing boats and nearby private islands and beaches.
After each game or task the winning team or best performing team will get one point. After the last game all points are counted and the team leader of the winning team receives the team idol which is a Thai mask or Buddha miniature statue.
Insurance and instructor supervision at all times is an important safety factor, and in the event of an emergency of team member withdrawal, transport and medical backup will be standing by.
Pre-briefing with skills training and tips, and debriefing and analysis lead by instructors will form a part of the process, both to enhance the learning outcomes and experiences of the delegates, and to ensure that the team works together is empowered to overcome the challenges it faces.
Starting with a four hour half day option, this
program can be expanded to a recommended full day 6-8 hour or even up to 12 hour event.
For those seeking a greater challenge, an event of several days across the Andaman Sea or Gulf of Thailand might be the choice and gives plenty of time to learn how to sail with your team independently and to experience the ultimate in team building!
