Bring the famous board game to life in this fun yet highly competitive activity! Based on Monopoly, teams will receive a limited amount of money and properties, and must travel around the city negotiating for other properties through, buying, selling, bartering and any other means they may devise. Clever communication and strategic negotiation will be vital as the team with the highest revenue at the end will take home the prize!
- To improve communication, delegation and work flow within the team
- To improve trust, planning and leadership skills
- To get to know one another in a fun and relaxed setting
- To work on cooperation and understanding yourself, your colleagues and your team
- To consider ways in which these skills can be translated into a work environment
A full life-sized Monopoly board is created directly inside the conference room. Everything from property cards, houses, hotels and the all-important Monopoly money will be larger-than-life. Your teams will need to select their game piece, dog, toy car, top hat etc. and just as in the real game make their way around the city buying as many properties as possible while avoiding paying rent to others.
Metropoly can either be conducted indoors with a full life-sized monopoly board or outdoor and around the city whereby actual properties are visited and involved in the game.
The location for the event is usually at the client’s hotel, own office space and/or around the city.
After the allotted game time is finished the Making Teams judges will calculate the total combined value of revenue and assets. The team with the highest amount is the winner.
Insurance and instructor supervision are important safety factors with any event, and in the event of an emergency, transport and medical backup will be standing by.
The event briefing takes place at the activity location or the client’s hotel meeting room or lobby. In the briefing the group is separated into teams and introduced to the facilitators, then the lead facilitator gives an introduction of the event including instructions and objectives for the activity.
In the de-brief the lead facilitator goes through the event challenges and asks each team questions to assess their own performance before announcing and awarding the winning team if applicable.
Briefing and de-brief usually take around 15 minutes each but can be extended upon request for more in-depth analysis of team performance.
