This unique team building activity is based on the popular TV-show ‘The Apprentice’. Participants are separated into teams of up to ten people, with two or more teams competing against each other in a race to complete an assigned business task successfully on time. The task may be set by the management of the participants own business or company and therefore specifically focus on brand projects, mission, values and goals. Alternatively, the task may be set by Making Teams in conjunction with executives from well-known third party brands, who will be responsible for judging the performance of the participants.
The business tasks that may be undertaken are extremely diverse, the only conditions
being budget, availability of resources and the goals of the participating company.
Tasks are normally practical, hands on, fun and exciting.
Popular choices for tasks include:
- Making a company video advertisement, presentation or marketing segment
- Producing a company brochure
- Designing, making and selling a new product
- Hosting a networking, launch or PR event
- Competing in a one day sales challenge
The location for the event is usually at the client’s hotel or own office space.
Just like in the TV show there’s a ‘CEO’ and company’s judges that score the teams. These roles are fulfilled either by members of the senior management of the participating well-known brand, a member of Making Teams and/or the client’s company management. The team with the highest score wins.
The event briefing and debrief takes place at the activity location. The group is separated into teams and introduced to their facilitators, then the lead facilitator gives an introduction of the event including (safety) instructions and objectives for the activity.
During the debrief, the facilitator discusses the event challenges and asks each team questions to assess their performance before announcing the winning team (if applicable).
Briefing and debrief usually take around 15 minutes each but can be extended for more in-depth analysis of team performance.
The half day program is up to 4 hours and includes 1-2 challenges and the full day program is up to 8 hours and includes up to 3 challenges.
