Welcome to the thrilling world of boxcar racing! In this exciting event, participants form a boxcar racing team to construct, decorate, and race a soapbox car in a mini championship that’s as exciting as a Mario-kart tournament! Whether it’s indoor or outdoor, the racing track comes alive with F1 advertisements, pit stops, power-ups to obtain during the race, and traps to outsmart your competitors. Endless challenging racing awaits you!
Our boxcar racing event focuses on:
- Improving communication within the team.
- Practicing planning and organisation.
- Considering leadership skills.
- Focusing on team synergy and individual roles.
- Getting to know each other while engaging in casual arcade racing.
- Managing time and completing team challenges together.
Delegates assemble their soapbox cars from kits, design their vehicle and branding, then race their cars in competition with each other. It’s not just about speed, it’s a strategic game of endless challenging racing. To add a layer of community engagement, students from a beneficiary school may take part in both the construction and racing of the cars. This provides students with a unique and fun learning experience, while delegates get the opportunity to educate local children on engineering projects through soapbox car race activities.
Boxcar racing teams will be tasked with designing and building their soapbox car and also competing with it in a series of mini championship races. The races will be held in a tournament style on a prepared track. Just like in a Mario Kart game, various power-ups and traps will be added to the track in each successive round, adding a casual arcade racing thrill to the competition. Your skills, strategy, and teamwork will be tested in this exhilarating boxcar racing event!
The location for the event is usually at the client’s hotel conference room or outdoor space.
Scoring will be based on a set of points given for speed, quality and creativity in design. The team with the most overall points at the end of the activity will be declared winner.
Insurance and instructor supervision at all times is an important safety factor, and in the event of an emergency of team member withdrawal, transport and medical backup will be standing by.
The event briefing and debrief takes place at the activity location. The group is separated into teams and introduced to their facilitators, then the lead facilitator gives an introduction of the event including (safety) instructions and objectives for the activity.
During the debrief, the facilitator discusses the event challenges and asks each team questions to assess their performance before announcing the winning team (if applicable).
Briefing and debrief usually take around 15 minutes each but can be extended for more in-depth analysis of team performance.
The half day program takes up to 4 hours and the full day program is up to 8 hours.
