Trivial Pursuit games are conducted in a team versus team format in which team rotate through the various games which are usually competitive sometime cooperative, some physical others more mentally challenging but each activity requires full participation of everyone in the team. The event starts with a couple of ice-breakers.
An example set of challenges for Trivial Pursuit in Thailand is shown below:
- North – Dtoong Making (Hanging handicraft)- Teams show their creative side by making a traditional Northern Thai Dtoong or hanging lantern
- North East – Esan dance and music – Teams hear and see the unique sound of Isan music and then put on their own song and dance performance
- Central – Buffalo race or Kite flying – Teams keep to be the fastest buffalos or fly a handmade bamboo kite the longest
- East – Papaya Salad making or Sand pagoda – Teams make a traditional Thai dish to the sound of Som Tam Leh Lah music or be creative to make a Sand Pagoda
- South – Puppet Show – Teams perform a traditional Southern style puppet show with the people as the performers
The location for the event is usually at the client’s hotel or park at walking distance of the hotel.
After each game scoring is given to each team and the sub-total is announced until the last game. Final scoring is done during the event debrief and the team with the most points is the winner.
Insurance and instructor supervision at all times is an important safety factor, and in the event of an emergency of team member withdrawal, transport and medical backup will be standing by.
The event briefing and debrief takes place at the activity location. The group is separated into teams and introduced to their facilitators, then the lead facilitator gives an introduction of the event including (safety) instructions and objectives for the activity.
During the debrief, the facilitator discusses the event challenges and asks each team questions to assess their performance before announcing the winning team (if applicable).
Briefing and debrief usually take around 15 minutes each but can be extended for more in-depth analysis of team performance.
The half day program is up to 4 hours and includes up to 6 games and the full day up to 8 hours and includes up to 10 games.
